ARCHITECTURE DESIGN SESSION (ADS)
The Mural Architecture Design Session (ADS) is a two-day, highly interactive workshop, that addresses the following architectural key process areas for a Software-as-a-Service business:
- Application Architecture
- Hosting Architecture
- Operational & Business Support Architecture
Each of these key areas is addressed in its own mini-workshop of approximately four hours, with a final four hours devoted to action planning and prioritization for how the ISV should address the gaps identified in each of the mini-workshops.
Application Architecture
The application architecture workshop is focused on a review of Key Success Factors for SaaS application architectures, including:
- Tenancy Model
- Environment Model
- Identification & Authorization
- Performance & Scalability
- Auditing & Logging
- Provisioning
- Service Customization & Integration
- Development Processes & Procedures
Service Delivery Architecture
This workshop is focused on a review of the operational service delivery architecture that will be required to deliver the envisioned service and focuses on the following topics:
- Service Level Objectives and Service Level Agreements
- Concept of Operations
- Operational Support Requirements (e.g. Monitoring, Software Updates, etc)
- Test and Production Environment Requirements
- Production Hosting Architecture
- Hosting Provider Options including Cloud Computing
- Selecting a Hosting Provider
Business Support Architecture
This workshop focuses on developing an understanding of the business support infrastructure that is required to launch and operate a successful SaaS offering and focuses on the following topics:
- Offering Management
- Service/Feature Management
- Order Management
- Service Provisioning
- Invoicing & Billing
- Service & Support
- Reporting
Deliverables
The deliverable from the ADS is a report that summarizes key findings and prioritized recommendations that resulted from the various workshops.
